Situated downtown Toronto, Ryerson is a commuter school with a large population of its students living off-campus. This project proposes a design to provide a space of rest and retreat to those who don't live on campus.

SleepWELL takes inspiration from the daily sleep cycle. Each floor of the building focuses on different stages of sleep.

The double-height vestibule blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor, welcoming students with the sound of water and the sight of trees while sunlight floods in through the windows behind them.

Located on the first floor is the organically-shaped WellBeing Lounge providing students a place to comfortably rest on campus.

Suspended from the twinkling ceiling, students are swaying to the sound of water as they doze off into one-hour naps.

The first floor focused on shallow levels of rest. The second floor dives into the deeper levels of sleep. Therapeutical and clinical services such as massages and sleep analysis are provided to help students with more sleep difficulties.

Green-space is limited on campus. Due to that, a future expansion project to make available a private outdoor space on the roof is an effective use of space in an urban city. One of the uses can include but not limited to holding events that promote student well-being (outdoor yoga, support circles, etc).
